How to obtain the Hungarian Digital Nomad Visa

Am I eligible to apply?

To be eligible for the digital nomad visa, you must be able to meet the following requirements:

  1. You are a national of a third country. Meaning you must not be a national of an EEA country

  2. You have proof of employment with a company or employer that is based outside of Hungary. This translates into not having any gainful activity within Hungary for the duration of your residence.

  3. You must be able to demonstrate remote work capabilities using laptops, smartphones

  4. You must have a minimum monthly income of EUR 2,000. In addition, you must be able to prove that you have regularly received this amount during the last six months.





What documents do I need to provide?


  1. Valid passport. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after your visa expires.

  2. A visa application form.

  3. Two passport-sized photos following Schengen guidelines.

  4. Proof that you will work remotely. You must prove that you will work remotely as a digital nomad for a company registered outside Hungary.

  5. Proof of sufficient financial means. You must meet the minimum income requirement by proving that you have at least a €2,000 monthly salary.

  6. Proof of health insurance. You must get health insurance that is valid for your entire stay in Hungary and covers your medical costs during that time.

  7. Proof of accommodation. You must prove that you have a place to stay while working in Hungary. You can show a rental agreement or a booking.


How to Apply for a Hungary Digital Nomad Visa (White Card)?


The Hungary digital nomad visa application is a 2-part application process. First you have to apply for a visa at the Hungarian embassy in your country; afterward, you apply for the White Card once you arrive in Hungary.


To obtain the entry visa, you will need to visit the Hungarian embassy or consulate in your country. This involves scheduling an appointment, attending an interview and paying all required fees.


After your entry visa has been issued, you can depart for Hungary and submit your white card application upon arrival. This are the following steps in the application process for the white card



  1. Gather all required forms and documents to submit to the corresponding organization. Please note that your White Card application process must be completed within 30 days of your arrival date.
